    HOME INSPECTION

    The Home Inspection Diploma is designed to introduce students to a vast array of

    practical and technical skills and tools, preparing them for a career in the home inspection industry. This program provides training that links with the professional standards of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI) and the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). This diploma program provides students with:

    • Knowledge of roof inspections, system performance, and safe construction practice
    • Comprehension of the structural components of a residential dwelling
    • The skills to inspect heating and cooling systems and identifying defects
    • Knowledge to build an independent home inspection business, as well as the ability to create, write, and deliver reports using Microsoft applications

    Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify. Students must achieve a grade point average of 75% to be eligible for the Home Inspection Diploma. Familiarity with construction, engineering, architecture, or property management may be advantageous, but it is not a requirement.

    Job opportunities: Home Inspection is a growing profession. The home inspector takes part in multiple tasks, including the examination and the preparation of a technical report regarding the physical condition of a home. Graduates of this program will be prepared to work in either the private or public sector, as well as having an opportunity to become self-employed.

    CNC AND MASTERCAM TECHNOLOGY

    CNC technology is widely used to manufacture metal, wood and plastic

    parts to replace traditional manufacturing methods. Students will be exposed to real-world experience and demonstrate their work skills through cooperative placement. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a college diploma and be able to work as CNC operators, CNC programmers, and related positions. This diploma program provides students with:

    CIVIL ENGINEERING DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

    The civil engineering design and technology diploma program trains

    students in civil design principles and computer-aided design systems adhering to the North America Design standards. This program trains students in:

    • AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D and InRoads. Students will use Civil 3D extensively in grading and piping design. 
    • Students will acquire working experience through a hands-on design project, or choose to take co-op in a civil consulting institution or a civil construction company
    • Upon completion of this program, a student will be able to perform civil design and related functions in a working environment.

    MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN TECHNOLOCY

    In this program you will learn knowledge and skills in mechanical design principles,

    North American design standards, and computer-aided design software systems such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and CATIA. In this program students will also learn how to use 3D printing technology to build part models and prototypes. In addition, as a mechanical designer you will learn how use ANSYS to perform finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics analysis. Students will also acquire valuable practical work experience, not only through many mini projects and a comprehensive mechanical design project. Finally co-op placement is available to for those students who intend to develop their work experience in a mechanical company.

    STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

    In this diploma program, students will learn Structural Analysis,

    Concrete/Steel/Wood Structural Design, North America Design Standards, Canadian/Ontario Building Code, and Home Inspection. They will also learn the important CAD systems: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit Structure and STAAD PRO. Furthermore, the students will be trained how to perform engineering estimation using MS Excel and Timberline, and how to manage a complex project using Primavera and MS Project.

    Students will acquire working experience through an in-depth structural design project. They can also choose to take a co-op placement in a structural consulting institution or a civil construction company to gain further work experience.

    Upon successful completion of this program, a student will be awarded a diploma and be able to perform structural detailing, design and related functions in a working environment.
